Effects of long duration earthquakes on the interaction of inertial and liquefaction-induced kinematic demands on pile-supported wharves

Nonlinear dynamic analyses were performed to evaluate the effects of ground motion duration on response a pile-supported wharf subjected liquefaction-induced lateral deformations. The numerical model was first calibrated using recorded data from well-instrumented centrifuge test, after which incremental conducted suite spectrally matched motions with different durations. nonlinear evaluated three loading scenarios: combined inertial loads deck and kinematic deformations, only in absence liquefaction (with minimal loads), mass inertia. analysis results provide insights relative contribution demands respect duration.
